MID KENT FISHERIES - Rules
|

RULES (2005/06 ISSUE)
- No more than 3 rods to be used at any one
time. 4 rods may be used between 1st November and 31st
March in each season.
- Barbed hooks must be used when carp fishing.
- Use of keep nets to be kept to a minimum.
Minimum size should be 20”x10”. There is also
a total ban on carp sacks for any reason. This applies
to ALL our waters.
- No dogs or other animals to be brought
on to any MKF waters (except Chilham and Shalmsford Street
complex), without prior permission from the office.
- Day tickets are available to guests fishing
with an adult member and MUST be purchased in advance from
the office at Chilham Mill. Guests may only fish
nights between October 1 and March 31 in any season. Guests
may only use 2 rods. Siblings under the age of 11 may fish
free with their parent member provided they are in the
same swim. Only one rod per child.
- No non-fishing guests, except partner,
on any water after sunset.
- No litter to be left at any time. You will
be responsible for any litter in your swim whether yours
or not. No Excessive noise.
- No lights to be used at night except hand
held or head torches, use of which should be kept to a
minimum.
- The following baits are banned: ALL nut
baits, live baits, gorge baits, aniline dyed maggots and
unboiled seed baits. There is a total ban of trout pellets
on all waters (carp pellets only to be used).
- Rods must be attended at all times whilst
fishing.
- No fires.
- Current membership card and EA licence(s)
to be carried at all times whilst on our waters, whether
fishing or not.
- NO LEAD SHOT to be used. No permanently
fixed leads to be used
- Toilet facilities, where available, should
be used. All other venues to be left clean.
- Members must park in areas provided and
display current permit in window at all times. Please place
guest permit in window of all guest cars.
- Fishing in rivers at any MKF site is strictly
forbidden unless authorised by the Fisheries Manager.
- No fishing from boats is permitted and
no boat must be taken onto the lakes without prior permission
from the Fisheries Manager. No model boats to be used for
baiting.
- Groundbait should be used in moderation
to avoid pollution.
- Wading is not permitted except for landing
fish.
- No trees to be cut or damaged.
- An adult must accompany a junior member
(under 16) when fishing nights unless an exemption has
been given by a staff member.
- All fish must be returned to the water.
At no time should fish be transferred from one water to
another.
- Members must be in possession of an assembled
landing net and unhooking mat at all times.
- Please report all dead fish to the Fisheries
Manager.
- Trailers can be walked around lakes to
swims but no cars at any time around any lake or beside
swims.
- Maximum length of stay on any one lake
is 48 hours with 24 hour break before returning. Members
wishing to fish for longer must notify the office before
they fish for a decision to be made. Holiday bookings of
one week are permitted on a pre-bookable basis.
PIKE FISHING
- Spinning for pike is permitted all year.
Dead baits must only be used between 1 October and 31 March
in each season.
- No pike fishing using less than 15lb line.
- Wire traces must be used when pike fishing:
min length 18” of 20lb BS minimum.
- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES must live fish be
brought onto our waters.
- Juniors must be accompanied by an adult
when pike fishing.
- No gags to be used for unhooking purposes.
- Crushed barbs or semi-barbed snap tackle
to be used in pike fishing.
- Maximum of 3 rods only at any time.
