Hi Don,your best bet is to walk the lake and talk to the anglers and bailiffs.they are a friendly lot and will help as much as they can.if you can`t do that then start in the north east corner and get your marker rod out.hope that`s helpfull

It is big, so break it down into small chunks and concentrate on one area. They are all over the lake so you will catch eventually. Good luck.

Yes, if you have paid the extra £25 for doing so on Westbere. Contact the ofice if in doubt.

Just done a 48 and bagged up - not on carp tho! Im quite happy to catch tench and have become something of an unwitting expert at this on Westbere and whilst bream are not my favourite and im less happy to catch them I console myself perhaps with the delusion that i must be doing something right and that eventually the carp home in on the bait too. Might already have had my one for the season, ah well, its the trying that counts, dont mind feeding the tench up but buggered if im gonna serve regular meals to a 'jelly' (my collective name) of eels! Man alive, I was plagued by them, tried allsorts to put them off too, larger baits, snowmen, tipping off with placcy baits etc but I couldnt shake them. Bl**dy bl**dy things, got well on my pip!!!! Never been bothered by them before but there were some bigguns too, not that i was about to dirty my mat or sling with the things!!! First time ive put any regular time in on Westbere so though its the first time theyve bothered me im wondering if this is a common occurrence, wont put me off if it is but should it be so any advice on keeping these evil slithery demons off my baits would be good.

Havent been spodding Mr Mole and not put any pellet or anything out either cos dont wanna pull all the bream in too. Ive been baiting a few times to keep the bait going in but nothing out of the ordinary. Hopefully it was a one off. Scotty i couldnt tell you what size they were im afraid, really not a clue, never weighed an eel in my life. I could say they were 'this thick' and 'that long' but thats it lol. I dont think they were of significant size cos i have had bigger out the Pan before but at dark o'clock especially they seem even bigger than normal - youre right, i cant stand them! It was just the number i had, never had them out Westbere before so dont know if theres a lot of them in her but im guessing with the size of the place and the diversity of species and naturals etc if you fished specifically for them youd do alright? |

Solar, you could try fishing big baits 22/24mm over beds of hemp, Eels dont some as keen on it. Just a thought that has worked for me down there.

For what's worth I don't use anything under 22mm on there, usually with an 18mm pop up on top snowman style. You don't get many bites but when you do!!!!!
