Sorry chaps not replied earlier.Bit of a nightmare session, firstly it took just under 4 hours to get there from London, due to there being a bad accident on the M2.The lake looked very picturesque with the snow and the sun and I felt very confident. The margins were frozen when I arrived so on with the waders to smash it up.Got the 4 rods out (3 carp 1 pike)and then the snow began to fall.I decided not to put the STI up but camp in the back of my van (l/w/b luton with tail-lift,largest bivvy on the market ).Anyway had no action or didnt see any fish.I woke up at 4am on friday to do a pee and I was shocked to see the thermometer read -7 c.I went back to sleep till 6.30am and got up to find the lake completely frozen. The lake gradually thawed out during the day but the temperature plummeted later on so I decided to call it a day.I would like to say a big thank-you to Tinca for giving me a jump start friday morning when my bivvy wouldnt start During my stay on there, there were 2 Pike anglers on thursday, they both blanked. On friday Tinca turned up,he also blanked and Im still waiting for my first Carp of the year .I was going to venture down this weekend but seeing the night time temperatures I thought that the lake would be frozen.Defineately be down next weekend as the forecast is for 12c next friday |

Lee,
Where are you getting the forecast from m8, the BBC 5 day forecast has it as 9 degrees during the day for Friday going down to 2 degrees at night.
Still I suppose the BBC and Michael Fish missed the hurricane in 1987 |

Try this site:www.metcheck.com search for Kent, then scroll down to hobby forecasts then fishing weather.ENJOY I dont care what temperature, I'll be on the bank this weekend come snow, rain or sun.I start to crack-up if I don't dangle at least 2 nights every fortnight. |

You stand to be corrected Nutlee .A day angler had a 17:08 Common 11am saturday, unfortunately I blanked yet again.Did my shortest session so far 28 hours.I heard that a 21:08 mirror was caught at Loggies on saturday |

Had to cancel this weekends fishing trip.Im off camping next weekend with the family down in Wiltshire.A lovely little campsite with 2 small lakes of about 0.5 acres each. Both contain quite a few carp upto 30lbs +.I always take my old Drennan Tench rod with a Mitchell Match reel,6lb main line,4lb hooklink,size14 hook, maggots, casters, sweetcorn and a bit of hemp.I've had 5 '20's to date upto 23:04 and loads of doubles. Now thats the way to catch 'em Atleast I know that Im going to catch my first carp of the year .That means I've done my last trip to the Stour lake this season I'll be back |

Hi Lee,it will be a new season next time I get to fish the Stour lake again. This weekend I've got to sort out all the camping equipment in readiness for camping next week,so the following weekend is the start of the new season.Im going to help out with the work party on sat 2nd april, depending where the work party takes place I shall probably fish that lake for the night.Anyway Lee,I think the fish will be havin' it bigtime before then.If youre fishing the Stour between now and then have a biggun' and keep me informed of any catches .Cheers fella |
