Mid Kent Fisheries - Ham Road
Ham Road and Scout Lake
This is now our third year on this site and it has proved to be a great asset. The two lakes are chalk and cheese as the above diagram shows.
The Scout Lake suffered a fish kill due to an alga which is present in the lake. It did kill a lot of the carp but those which survived are now very big. We are unable to stock the lake until the quarry works stop which I am told will be in about two years time, the problem is the washing of the sand causes the algae to bloom.
The Ham Road Lake on the other hand is a prolific fishery with many doubles, twenties and thirties and at least two forties, really a super fishery.
We have a bailiff who lives on site and the rules are strictly enforced as this is a working quarry. The bailiff who lives on site will also be checking the Mill Pool and Wood Pool to enforce the rules on this venue; it has become a bit troublesome with a few local individuals causing problems.
