Mid Kent Fisheries - Lydd
Dug in the 1990s Mid Kent took over the fishing rights in 2005.
These virgin lakes had no known stocks in the lakes other than a few fish bred from the wild. Therefore it was a golden opportunity to stock some really nice Carp into the lakes
The lakes were very fertile with masses of natural life such as shrimp in the water, so we new the carp would do well and grow very quickly. The growth rates have even surprised us, we stocked carp to 24lb in 2005 and it has already produced four carp over 40lb with the biggest coming in at 47lb, it also has numerous carp to mid thirties which is amazing in such a short space of time. We also found that the fish breed prolifically and we have therefore netted the big lake and have now stocked the other two lakes. We only removed the small fish and stocked them into the middle lake first. Again these fish just pack on weight and they are already nudging 30lb. We then stocked the third lake with small fish again and now these fish are already over 20lb, it really is an amazing complex!!
Tends to be a bit windy in winter, more for the hardy souls at this time of year! Species Present: Carp to 47lb caught in 2012/13 season
