The lakes at Staines have a long
Carp history and hold fish to 40lb plus, they also have double
figure Bream and Tench and big Roach and Pike. The waters
at present are approximately 40, 30, and 15 acres although
some of the big lake will be back filled over the next ten
years and will eventually be about 15 acres.

LAKE INFORMATION
Littleton South
This lake is very deep in parts and gin
clear. It has good stock of very large carp, best this year is
a 41lb common. It also holds some very big Bream and Tench possibly
of record size. There are two parking areas one being on the
river bank and one on the far side.
The car park from Littleton
Lane is near a residential travellers’ park.
These people rent a field from Bretts for their horses and have
been told to behave themselves. If you get any problem at all (I
am assured you won’t) I want to know about it and Bretts
will take it up with them.
Littleton North
This lake is different as chalk and cheese
although the two lakes are joined. This lake is slowly being
backfilled therefore the colour of the water is very sandy. It
again holds some very big specimen fish of all species. Many
Carp to mid 30’s I am
told but location is harder. We share this lake with the water
ski club.
DO NOT FISH IN SKI LANES CLEARLY MARKED WHEN
SKIING IS TAKING PLACE. YOU WILL BE POLITE AT ALL TIMES TO SKIERS,
ANY ABUSE AND YOU WILL BE EXPELLED.
You may drive your
car along river bank to boundary clearly defined. Be thoughtful
to other anglers who may be fishing that bank. Parking in the quarry
is restricted to the car park just past the office, this is the
only place which you may park, and you may need a barrow. Abuse
this parking or leave any gates that were locked unlocked and you
will lose your membership.
Littleton North is located south of Staines
close to Laleham and adjacent to the river Thames on its
west bank. the pit is still being worked and back filled
at the same time from teh North side and will eventually
disappear completely from the map.
It is at best an unpredictable venue, full
of massive Bream shoals with fish into double figures, Large
Roach and Tench are also common. There are also some very
large Carp but they are difficult to trace and catch. The
pit is equally balanced as to fishing areas and there are
no particular hotspots unless you make your own with a pre
baiting programme. |
Devils Lane Lake
A lovely mature gravel pit of about 15
acres. It has shallow areas, deep areas, snags and reed beds
it really has great potential. Stocks are an unknown quantity;
the lake suffered a fish kill a few years ago, at that stage
it was very overstocked. Therefore it may have been nature’s
way of getting the lake back to rights.
No viral diseases were
found in tests that were carried out on the fish. We will be
carrying out a stock survey in the very near future and if we
feel it needs further stocks then will carry this out. It has
produced some very large Carp Bream and Tench since the fish
kill so it may be the case that the lake is back in shape and
just needs anglers to fish it.
Size: 40, 30, and
15 acres
Stock: Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach
