Information: Dug in the eighties for gravel,
Mid Kent Fisheries took the lakes on in 1992.
The Pan was
already partially stocked with carp from the Mill Pool at
Faversham. We have continued to stock both lakes since taking
them over with a major stocking of Carp in 2002.
Since then
the growth rates have been exceptional with both lakes now
doing carp over 40lb, the biggest at the time of going to
print a 46lb common.
Both lakes are renowned for their huge
tench with many top anglers like Martin Bowler considering
them to be the best in the country.
There is a huge number
of double figure tench in both lakes, one 48hr catch consisted
of 8 tench over 10lb, 13 over 9lb and 23 over 8lb, it speaks
for itself.
There are also some very large bream to
15lb in the Handle and both lakes hold large pike the biggest
being 36lb from the Pan.
Please note that the aerial photo is taken
looking towards Canterbury. The Path immediately next to the
Howfield Lane turn-off can be seen at bottom right of the
image. Houses seen at top right are Thannington.
